KU’s Lee Receives PSAC East Athlete of the Week Honor

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – For the first time in his career, redshirt-sophomore Anthony Lee of the No. 13 Kutztown University men’s basketball team has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday, Jan. 23.

Lee becomes the first Golden Bear to receive the honor this season. He was a four-time PSAC East Freshman of the Week in 2015-16.

Lee led KU (15-2, 11-2 PSAC) in scoring last week as the Maroon and Gold rode their winning streak to seven games. He averaged 20.5 points, shot 65.2 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from 3-point range while making all five of his free throws. He also contributed averages of 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks.

Against Bloomsburg on Wednesday, Jan. 18 Lee shot spectacularly, making 9-of-13 from the field, 3-of-4 from 3-point range and a perfect 3-of-3 from the line en route to a season and team-high 24 points – his fourth 20+ point game in seven contests – to go along with four rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block. Then on Saturday at Millersville, he again led KU with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. In addition to adding four rebounds, the redshirt-sophomore had multiple steals for the 10th time in 11 contests.

Kutztown looks to make it seven in a row when its returns to Keystone Arena to host West Chester on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. The contest will mark the conclusion of “Bears Give Back” – KU’s month-long food drive that will donate all non-perishable food donations to the on-campus food pantry and Friends Inc. Any fan who brings a donation to the game will gain entrance to a drawing for a Giant gift card, while any student-athlete who brings a donation will also receive a PSAC t-shirt with the league’s new logo.
