Great Decisions series by World Affairs Council of Reading & Berks, Foreign Policy Association

The 2017 Great Decisions series  will begin on Wednesday, February 15 at 7 p.m. at the Wyomissing Public Library, 9 Reading Boulevard in Wyomissing.

The Great Decisions series is a program of the World Affairs Council of Reading and Berks County, and is produced and administered by the Foreign Policy Association. A different global issue is discussed each week, with background information, current data and policy options provided for each issue.

This year’s series and discussions will take place every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.for eight weeks, ending on April 5 at the Library.

The Future of Europe will be the first topic of the 2017 series. The discussion will be led by Dr. Thomas Jay Lynn,  Associate Professor of English and a faculty member of the Global Studies Program at Penn State Berks.

Each topic is presented through a briefing book, short video and facilitated group discussion. There is a program fee of $35.00 per person or $40.00 for two people in the same household. Registration is required, and may be completed at the library or by mail, with checks made payable to the Wyomissing Public Library.

February 22 – Trade and Politics, with Paul Landry, retired fundraiser

March 1 – Conflict in the South China Sea, with William Dramby, History teacher at Wyomissing Area Junior/Senior  High School

March 8 – Saudi Arabia in Transition, with Dr. Michelle Mart, Associate Professor of History at Penn State Berks

March 15 – US Foreign Policy & Petroleum, with Dr. Farhad Saboori, Professor of Economics at Albright College

March 22 – Latin America’s Political Pendulum, tbd

March 29 – Prospects from Afghanistan and Pakistan, with Attorney Peter Munsing

April 5 – Nuclear Security – with Dr. Victoria Williams, Associate Professor of Political Science at Alvernia University.
