Asthma Outreach in Berks County

Asthma Education

The American Lung Association in PA currently has funding available to support children diagnosed with asthma in Berks County.  The offer includes staff training in one of American Lung Association’s signature programs for children.

Open Airways For Schools® is a program that educates and empowers children through a fun and interactive approach to asthma self-management. The program teaches children with asthma ages 8 to 11 how to detect the warning signs of asthma, avoid their triggers and make decisions about their health. As of 2011, OAS has reached 13,163 children and has 1,064 active OAS facilitators and with your help we hope to make that number higher!

This training is free; it is on a first come first served basis. Interested Berks County schools should contact John Keith at the American Lung Assn. at 610-941-9595, x 415. Training expectations include 1-2 hours of online programs and 2-3 hours in-person training.
