KUTZTOWN, Pa. – For the second time this season, Alex Heck of the Kutztown University women’s basketball team was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East Athlete of the Week on Feb. 13. The graduate transfer also received the inaugural honor of the season on Nov. 14.
Heck averaged a team-high 14.5 points with 9.0 rebounds in two victories last week to help push KU (7-11 PSAC, 10-16) into a tie for fourth place in the PSAC East with its first three-game winning streak since January and February of 2015.
In a 23-point win over Mansfield on Wednesday, Feb. 8, Heck scored 13 points with six rebounds and two blocks. Then in a road win on Saturday at Cheyney, she notched her team-leading sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Heck’s team-leading 80.5 free throw percentage, 43.3 field goal percentage and 13.0 points per game currently rank ninth, 11th and 20th in the PSAC, respectively. She is also 12th in the league with an average of 7.3 rebounds per game.
KU looks to make it four wins in a row when they return home to host East Stroudsburg University on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m. KUSSI will be holding giveaways for its annual Fan Appreciation Night.
