Reading Health Appoints Christopher F. Valente, MD, as Chief, Pediatric Emergency Medicine

Reading Health System has appointed Christopher F. Valente, MD, as Chief of the newly created section of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, within the Department of Emergency Medicine, as of January 1, 2017.

Dr. Valente began at Reading Health in Pediatric Emergency Medicine in June 2016. Prior to his career at Reading Health, he served as Hospitalist, Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit, at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Baltimore, MD.

Dr. Valente completed his residency and internship in Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University Children’s Center and completed a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

In 2015, Dr. Valente received his Certificate in Clinical Research from the University of Pennsylvania Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Fordham University, Bronx, NY. He holds specialty certification in Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS); and is board certified through The American Board of Pediatrics.

In his new role, Dr. Valente will oversee the development of a Pediatric Emergency Department, work collaboratively with the Departments of Pediatrics and Surgery to standardize care of the pediatric patient and serve as Core Faculty of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program in development.
