RACC will open satellite location at Wilson Southern Middle School

Feb 23, 2017 • by Reading Area Community College

Reading, PA – A college education is a little closer to home for some Berks County residents. Reading Area Community College (RACC) is proud to announce the opening of a satellite location at the Wilson Southern Middle School in Sinking Spring. Classes will debut in fall of 2017.

The space, located at Wilson Southern Middle School, 3100 Iroquois Avenue in Sinking Spring, is an ideal location to extend RACC’s academic footprint into the community. Beginning in late August, RACC will offer hybrid (combined face-to-face and online) and traditional classes during the late afternoon to early evening hours Monday through Thursday at the new location.

“We will have a variety of general education classes to offer students in accelerated, seven-week formats, with most of the classes being eligible to transfer to a four-year institution,” says Dr. Susan Looney, RACC senior vice president of academic affairs/provost. “We look forward to being a good academic neighbor to the Sinking Spring community by extending easy access to a quality education,” she continues.

The selection of the Wilson Southern Middle School site is a result of an ongoing search for additional instructional locations. “Our market research indicates there is a demand for college level instruction outside of our main campus site,” says Dr. Anna Weitz, RACC president. “The Sinking Spring location gives us the opportunity to advance our mission to enhance the educational opportunities and bring the classroom to our residents,” she adds.
