The Reading Choral Society is pleased to present the 3rd Annual Berks Choir Games March 9 – 10, 2017
The Berks Choir Games were conceived in 2014 as a festival to celebrate, inspire, and share in the continued creation of excellent and diverse choral arts in Berks County and beyond. Additionally, the Reading Choral Society aims to unite choral artists and ensembles spanning across the boundaries of age, culture, or stylistic preferences as we continue to foster the rich heritage of choral song that our community has long enjoyed.
This year’s theme is Absolute A Cappella, as we will be celebrating the musical wonders that can be achieved through the simplicity of the human voice.
The festival is broken into three main events:
1. Main Stage Concert @ The Abe, 8PM
2. Afternoon of A Cappella @ The WCR Center for the Arts, 3PM
3. Community Pop-Up Events
See our Facebook Page or website for more details @ www.berkschoirgames.org
All events will be taking place along the Downtown Reading Penn Street Corridor at locations such as the Abe Lincoln Ballroom, The WCR Center for the Arts, Judy’s on Cherry, the Peanut Bar, and perhaps a few other surprise visits around town. The 2017 Berks Choir Games are pleased to welcome our headliner ensembles to Reading, PA on Friday Night, March 10th at the Abe Lincoln Ballroom (8PM) at our Main Stage event:
*Street Corner Symphony (Nashville, TN)
*Redhot & Blue of Yale (New Haven, CT)
Tickets are just $20 in advance, $25 at the door, or $10 for students (with I.D.)
Additionally, we will welcome the following ensembles who will join us for our Afternoon of A Cappella and Community Pop-Up events: The Penn Statesmen (State College, PA), Phalanx (Elizabethtown, PA), OcTonics (U. of Arts, Philadelphia, PA), Kutztones (Kutztown, PA), Break From Blue Collar Quartet (Lancaster/Lebanon, PA), and local High School A Cappella Ensembles (Reading, Governor Mifflin, and Berks Catholic)!
The Berks Choir Games received its start through the generous support of the Reading Musical Foundation and Mr. Albert Boscov. This year the Berks County Community Foundation joined our sponsorship to continue their support and advancement of the arts along the Downtown Penn Street Corridor. Each of these organizations have had a tremendous impact on our ability to advance the choral arts within our community in a meaningful way.
The Reading Choral Society dedicates BCG 2017 in honor of Mr. Albert Boscov!
We will keep the art of song alive in Reading, PA! We will keep dreaming big!
