READING, PA –  Do It Local, a new local discount app, is now available for download on the Apple App Store and the Android Market. The app offers a modern way for local small businesses to advertise and consumers to save while raising proceeds for community nonprofits.

Do It Local, founded by Berks county natives Patrick and Heather Brady, was created to fill a gap in the community between local entrepreneurs and nonprofits through cause-related marketing initiatives.

Throughout Heather’s career in marketing and advertising, she always had an interest in cause-related marketing and wanted to use this as a way give back to her community. Patrick’s interest in app development was peaked while studying for his bachelor’s degree in information systems at Albright College. Do It Local allows them to combine their passions for technology, business and community.

“We noticed that a lot of similar fundraising tools focused on larger, national chain businesses,” Heather explained. “When designing Do It Local, we knew we wanted to keep the fundraising aspect, but also give small businesses an effective way to reach a loyal consumer base while supporting the community.”

Features of the app include:

Savings from local businesses in a variety of categories such as salon & spa, auto care, restaurants, shopping, and home services.Geo push notifications to help users identify when they are close to a business that offers a deal.New deals being added consistently throughout the year.A savings calculator, to easily keep track the annual savings through deal usage.  Reusable deals, to promote loyalty between the local business partners and users.

Membership purchases of the Do It Local app benefit local nonprofit organizations as a fundraising opportunity. For every download, the benefiting organization receives $15.

“We partnered with Do It Local because of the true value and meaning in ‘doing it local’. We believe in collaborating within our community,” said BCTV Executive Director Heather Adams, “and this is a great opportunity to fund raise for our organization while promoting and supporting other businesses in Berks.”

The app is available now for download on both iOS and Android devices. Purchase a membership on www.doitlocalapp.com. Use the fundraising key 151AC24F to support BCTV!
