Ryan Cruthers Joins Royals as Assistant Coach

The Reading Royals have announced that Ryan Cruthers has joined the team as an assistant coach. Cruthers, who will assist Interim Head Coach Kirk MacDonald in all matters related to hockey operations, began his role with the team today.

“I’m excited to have Ryan join the Royals’ coaching staff,” said MacDonald. “Our fans are well familiar with his skill and competitive fire as a player, and I’m confident that he will bring his hockey knowledge and experience, as well as his positive energy, to our squad as we prepare for our post-season run. I want to express my sincere thanks to Ryan for taking the time from his busy schedule with his junior team to help the Royals pursue our goals of championship excellence.”

Cruthers, 32, who hails from Farmingdale, N.Y., is the owner, general manager, and head coach of the Charlotte Rush of the United States Premier Hockey League.

He is the all-leading scorer for the Royals, having racked up 273 points (86g-187a) in 278 career games with the team. A recent inductee into the Royals’ Wall of Honor, Cruthers led the Rush to the USPHL championship this past season.
