Sessions Engage Participants in Family History

Shillington, PA— Berks Encore–Mifflin is hosting the introductory session, “What Is This Thing Called Genealogy,” on Tuesday, April 18 at 10 a.m.  Local genealogy enthusiast Carl Bloss will share the joys of learning about one’s family history. There is no fee for the session.

During this initial session, Bloss will discuss where to begin and what to look for when researching your family history.  For those seeking more information about discovering their past, a four-week series of classes will be held on Tuesdays beginning on April 25 and running through May 16. These classes will be held at two convenient times: 10 to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 to 2 p.m. The class series carries a one-time $5 fee for printouts.

Local genealogy enthusiast Carl Bloss will share the joys of learning about one’s family history. According to Bloss, tracing your roots can help you learn more about the members of your family whom you never had an opportunity to meet.  Beginning your family research can seem confusing and often intimidating due to the large number and varying type of websites, libraries and printed resources to access. These classes are designed to help learners navigate the steps in tracing your family history and share helpful strategies for your continued journey.

Berks Encore-Mifflin is located at 30 Liberty Street, Shillington.  For more information or to register for Introduction to Genealogy, please contact Mifflin center manager Kate Sweinhart at (610) 777-5577.
