K9 fund awards grants to three Berks County law-enforcement agencies

READING, PA – The Darell and Gloria Rank K9 Corps Fund of Berks County Community Foundation has distributed $17,200 to three law-enforcement agencies for maintaining and training their K9 units. The fund was established in 2011 to annually provide financial support to governmental entities in Berks County to acquire, train, and maintain K9 units.

This year’s grants:

$11,349 to the City of Reading Police Department K9 Unit for veterinary expenses, kennel maintenance, handling equipment, and insect sprays for police cars, officers and dogs.$3,351 to the Berks County Sheriff’s Office K9 Division for general maintenance, required training and replacing worn-out equipment.$2,500 to the West Reading Police Department for general operating support for the maintenance of and required training for its K9 Corps.
