Alvernia’s Catchmark Named MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week

Annville, Pa. (May 1, 2017) – Alvernia sophomore John Catchmark was named the MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week, announced Monday by the Middle Atlantic Office.

Catchmark was lights out in two starts for the Crusaders. Catchmark threw 15 innings without allowing a run, struck out 25 batters and gave up just five hits. The sophomore threw eight innings in a win over Stevenson, allowing just two hits, struck out 14 and walked just one. Catchmark then threw a three-hit, complete-game shutout against Arcadia to open the series. He struck out 11 batters and allowed just one walk.

Alvernia begins MAC Commonwealth Championship action on Thursday May 4, entering the tournament as the No.1 seed. The Crusaders will face 4-seeded Lebanon Valley at 4 p.m.
