Annville, Pa. (May 5, 2017) – Three Alvernia students were named All-MAC Commonwealth for women’s tennis, announced Friday by the Middle Atlantic Office.
Senior Alyssa Boyd and junior Cassandra Noray both received First Team nods, while junior Emily Thek was named Honorable Mention.
Boyd is making her first appearance on the First Team while claiming her fourth All-Conference award. Boyd was named Second Team in 2014 and 2015, and was Honorable Mention in 2013. With a career record of 31-20, Boyd wrapped up her final campaign with nine wins, including a 4-1 conference showing at No.3 singles.
Noray earns her second consecutive First Team selection and third All-MAC Commonwealth honor, being named Second Team in 2015. Playing No.1 singles for the Crusaders, Noray ranks tied for fourth in the conference in singles competitions for the season, collecting 12 victories with an .800 winning percentage. In the first flight, Noray ranks third in overall wins with 10, and is tied for first in the conference in MAC wins with six.
Thek is making her third appearance on the All-Conference list, receiving Honorable Mention as a freshman and Second Team in 2016. Representing the Crusaders in No. 4 singles, Thek is tied with Noray for the fourth spot in the conference singles play rankings with a 12-3 record and .800 win percentage. In her flight, Thek is third in wins and win percentage with 7 victories, including a MAC-best 5 win in conference.
