Womelsdorf, PA – Dedicated volunteers from BB&T branches will be descending on the campus of Bethany Children’s Home to complete beautification projects including staining the pool pavilion, weeding flower beds and preparing for the planting of spring/summer flowers, and painting swing sets and railings this May. In addition, volunteers will assist the Bethany staff in reorganizing storage space including the youth incentive store for the Henning Emergency Center/Shelter.

Volunteers will be on working on these projects on Bethany’s campus on May 9, 10, and 11.

Robesonia, Sinking Spring, Morgantown, Bernville, and Berkshire Boulevard BB&T branches will be sending representatives to work on the improvements each day during the project.

The BB&T volunteers are taking part in the company’s ninth annual Lighthouse Project. The teams have each selected a project to assist a nonprofit agency to complete between April and June to make a positive impact on the lives of people in need. BB&T hopes their efforts encourage others in the community to volunteer their time and support organizations such as Bethany Children’s Home.

Since the inception of the BB&T Lighthouse Project in 2009, BB&T associates have completed more than 9,000 community service projects, donated more than 475,000 hours in volunteer service and touched the lives of more than 13 million people. Associates overwhelmingly voted to bring back the initiative this year. For more information about the Lighthouse Project, go to BBT.com/BBT/LighthouseProject/.
