Mystery Writers of America Panel Brings Intrigue and Insights to Muhlenberg Community Library

Laureldale, PA, Saturday May 13, 2017 –On Saturday May 13th Muhlenberg Community Library will host a panel discussion featuring five authors from the Mystery Writers of America. All of the writers reside in Pennsylvania and will be sharing their insights into writing and their books. Jane Kelly, author of three traditional mystery series with a humorous twist including award-winning Missing You in Atlantic City, will serve as moderator. The panel discussion will be from 11:00 to noon. The panelists including Jon McGoran, Nancy A. Hughes, Erik Arenson and Don Helin, represent a diverse range of writing styles from cozy mysteries to eco-thrillers.

Following the panel from 12:00 to 12:30PM the public will have a chance to mingle with the writers, view their books and ask questions. Erik Arenson is the author of crime fiction including his first book The Throes of Crime, a collection of 26 short stories and six true-crime essays. Don Helin drew from his military experience including eight years in the Pentagon to write four suspense novels. One of the best-known is Dust Up, an international thriller. He is currently working on his fifth novel. Nancy A. Hughes pens character-driven crime solving mysteries. Her timely book The Dying Hour features a Vietnam vet in hospice care at a VA Hospital. Jon McGoran has written eight novels, including ecological thrillers, forensic thrillers, and the upcoming YA science fiction thriller Spliced.

The event is free and open to the public. The PA Forward Basic Literacy and Social Literacy program is part of Muhlenberg Community Library’s effort to promote a love of reading and writing.
