Date: May 11, 2017Time: 7:30 AM – 11:45 PM EDT The Greater Reading Chamber & Economic Development Corporation (GRCEDC) and Customers Bank present the 2017 State of the Community:  Workforce Development & Education Summit!Great things are happening throughout our region related to workforce development and career readiness education!Let’s build on our region’s work and create a strategy for Greater Reading to promote career readiness to meet the requirements of our employers & industries.Let’s align with policy and funding required to support our community’s workforce development and education attainment level to ensure our long term economic vibrancy.KEYNOTE ADDRESS: “SKILLS FOR GOOD JOBS: AN AGENDA” presented by ANDY VAN KLEUNEN, CEO – National Skills CoalitionAn overview of the current policy debates around skills and employment, and where local leaders can weigh in to make government a more effective partner.”Opportunity Occupations,” presented by Keith Wardrip, Community Development Research Manager for the CDS&E Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Keith will share Berks County data on “opportunity occupations” along with level of education and necessary skills.   INDUSTRY SECTOR SKILLS PANEL: “DOING IT RIGHT” facilitated by Dan Fogarty, Director of Workforce Development/COO – Berks County Workforce Development BoardRepresentatives from manufacturing, healthcare, professional services and construction/development industries will discuss what they’re doing locally to address their workforce gaps.Young Professionals will provide testimonials on how they navigated resources in the community to find success and what attracted/retained them to Greater Reading.Location:Inn at Reading1040 N.
