The Muhlenberg Township Parks & Recreation Department is planning a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 29th at 10AM at Jim Dietrich Park near the flag pole.

Our program will consist of Brigadier General Jeffery Elliott (retired), who served with the Judge Advocates General’s Office as our guest speaker, State Senate Judy Schwank and State Rep. Mark Rozzi will also be speakers.  The posting of the colors will be done by Boy Scout Troop #161.

Music will be provided by a Brass Ensemble from the Muhlenberg High School under the direction of David Luckenbaugh.  Singing of the National Anthem will be by the group Time Frame.  “General Logan’s Orders” will be read by David Varone of the Vietnam Veteran Association Chapter #131 and “In Flanders’s Field” will be recited by Evelyn Roth, president of the National Honor Society.

Wreaths will be laid in honor of Gold Star families, Fallen Police Officer, Fallen Fire Fighters and all military branches.  Light refreshments will be served afterward at the park’s pavilion.

Please join us as we recognize those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of our nation.  Bring your own chairs, please.   For more information call 610-929-4727.
