PA State Police Troop L Distracted Driving initiative

In 2015, the last year stats were available, there were 954 distracted driver crashes in Troop L’s area.

Troop L is conducting a Distracted Driver Initiative.  This will take place May 22, 2017 – May 30, 2017.  Troopers will be strictly enforcing violations where cell phone usage both by calling (commercial vehicles) and texting are observed.

In 2015, the last year stats were available, there were 954 distracted driver crashes in Troop L’s area.  There were 628 in Berks County, 165 in Lebanon County, and 161 in Schuylkill County.   

For the purposes of this initiative, enforcement activity for observed violations of Title 75 (Vehicle Code), §1621, Texting While Driving; §1622, Handheld Mobile Telephone (commercial vehicle); §3314, Prohibiting Use of Hearing Impairment Devices; §3316, Prohibiting Text-based Communications; §3714, Careless Driving; and/or §3736, Reckless Driving, shall be considered “distracted driving”.
