Where can you find a good time that includes free live entertainment, delicious food for sale, and a relaxing atmosphere – all during your lunchtime break? The MidDay Cafés, of course!
Starting Friday, June 2 at 11:30 a.m., this year’s Café series will roll out in the geographic epicenter of downtown Reading with the return of the World War II re-enacted skirmish on Penn Square (the 500 block of Penn Street).
The re-enactment ties into the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum’s 27th Annual World War II Weekend on June 2, 3, and 4 at Reading Airport in Bern Township. A live performance by the famed Ringgold Band will return to entertain the Café crowd.
The series will continue every other Wednesday starting at 11:30 a.m. through the summer (see the back page for the complete schedule). Of course, tasty lunchtime fare can be purchased from several food vendors such as Callowhill Café, Chapman’s Deli, Mi Casa Su Casa, Santos Food Truck, Tropical Bakery, and Mr. Softee.
The MidDay Cafés are produced by the Reading Downtown Improvement District.
Major sponsors of the cafés include: Abilities In Motion, EnerSys, Manor at Market Square, Street Plus, Kozloff Stoudt Attorneys, Greater Reading Chamber & Economic Development Corporation, and Berks County Community Foundation.
Media Sponsor is Reading Eagle Company.
Site sponsors include: Herbein + Company, Inc., M&T Bank, Entech Engineering, Destination Realty, Kozloff Stoudt Attorneys, Wells Fargo Bank, and Greater Reading Chamber & Economic Development Corporation.
