PUBLIC NOTICE: Draft Public Participation Plan & Draft Limited English Proficiency Plan from Reading Area Transportation Study

The Reading Area Transportation Study (RATS) Coordinating Committee has prepared the Draft Public Participation Plan and the Draft Limited English Proficiency Plan for Berks County.  These are operational documents that address methods to disseminate information about and gather public input on various transportation planning efforts in Berks County. 

This announcement is designed to give citizens, local governments and interested organizations an opportunity to comment on the Draft Plans.  Two (2) Public Meetings will be held to take comments on the Draft Plans:  Tuesday, June 27, 2017, beginning at 4:00 p.m., in the Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority (BARTA) Conference room, 1700 North 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604, and Wednesday, June 28, 2017 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Berks County Agricultural Center auditorium, 1238 County Welfare Road, Leesport, PA 19533. 

These meetings are not about specific projects or issues; rather, they are about the exchange of information and how to best engage the public in the transportation planning process.

Copies of the Draft Plans are available for public review on the Berks County Planning Commission’s web page at www.co.berks.pa.us/planning and at the following locations:

Please submit written comments to:  Mr. Michael Golembiewski, Transportation Modeler, Berks County Planning Commission, 633 Court St. – 14th Floor, Reading, PA 19601.  Comments will be accepted beginning May 28, 2017 through the close of business on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.  Comments may also be faxed to (610) 478-6316 or sent by email to [email protected].

The Plans will be made available again at these same locations following approval.  The Berks County Planning Commission offices are handicapped accessible and are served by BARTA routes.  These documents will be made available in alternative languages or formats if requested.  If you need translation/interpretation services, we ask that you contact us no later than June 20, 2017 at [email protected], or call 610-478-6300.
