Randolph Simmons, President of We Agape You, Inc., started working with Wells Fargo CUSP to receive donated houses that were rehabilitated for veterans and the needy. Growing up in Reading, PA and witnessing the excessive poverty throughout out the city and the number of veterans living in tent cities throughout the neighborhood, he felt in his heart to give back and lift up his community. He created We Agape You, Inc., agape meaning Greek for love, in order to fulfill this mission of ending homelessness by providing employment opportunities and housing solutions.

Simmons reached out to a number of local organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, BB&T Bank, Woodforest Bank, Home Depot, Lowes, Sherwin Williams, and more to assist with supplies to rehabilitate the homes. ADAPPT House, Hope Rescue Mission, and Wernersville Community Correction Center granted permission for inmates to volunteer in the house rehabilitation. With this, the W.A.Y. Program was born in order to successfully train inmates in job skills for future employment. The program that started in Berks County then moved into surrounding counties to touch other needy communities.

With the property at 630 N. 11th St. Reading, PA, We Agape You, Inc. will continue to fulfill its mission by selling it for cost of the rehab materials and supplies. The organization has been granted permits to complete repairs on two properties they own on N. 8th St. Reading. Once Reading Area Water Authority turns the water on to these properties, they will also be sold at half price under the same conditions.

All are invited to the open house event from 11am to 1pm at 630 N. 11th St. Reading. For more information on the open house please contact Joelle Dennis, Designer at  Keller Williams Realty at 570-391-5128.
