Full Week of celebratory events planned on campus of Governor Mifflin High School for 42nd straight yearThe Greater Governor Mifflin League (GGML) was founded in 1976 as non-profit organization devoted to giving back to the community. In every year since, the GGML has presented a unique community fair featuring food, games, rides, and some of the best regional entertainment, including a spectacular “One-of-a-Kind” Fireworks finale which will culminate this year on Saturday, July 8th. Its main goal has been to return proceeds from the fair back into the community in the form of contributions to local fire companies, ambulance associations, scout troops, school projects, community projects, and scholarships, just to name a few. Over the past 42 years, the GGML has given almost $500,000 back to its community.This year, Community Days will be held from Monday July 3 – Saturday July 8, with a Special “Concert-Only Preview Night” on Sunday July 2 featuring The Reading POPS Orchestra. The Greater Governor Mifflin League prides itself on presenting some of the best Free Entertainment in Berks with well-known regional bands as well as its Spectacular Fireworks Display to conclude the festival each year on Saturday night. This year’s entertainment and special events include:Sunday July 2 – Concert Only Preview Night – The Reading POPS Orchestra performs for the first time, an original arrangement composed by Erwin Chandler in tribute to “The Constitution” with Narration by Rep. Thomas Caltagirone, Choir, & Orchestra. This has been commissioned and dedicated to the Governor Mifflin Music Dept. and the late-great Lewis “Skip” Norcott, former Governor Mifflin Music Chair and POPS Arranger/Trombonist – Donations will be accepted to benefit The Reading POPS Orchestra.Monday July 3 – Country Night featuring Dion Pride (Son of Country Legend Charley Pride), The Cramer Brothers, The Stephanie Grace Trio, Ride Prices with 1 less ticket per ride with Majestic Midways, and the 8th Annual Photo Contest.Tuesday July 4 – Erich Cawalla’s Uptown Band, Zumba with Full Throttle Fitness Factory, Special $25.00 Bracelet Ride Price with Majestic Midways, and the 9th Annual Bakeoff Contest.Wednesday July 5 – Rick K. & The Allnighters ft. “The Mad Drummer” with 40 million YouTube views, The Thunderbolts Production Unit, The Time Frame Barbershop Quartet, and Character Night featuring Slapshot of the Reading Royals and others.Thursday July 6 – Oldies Night featuring Flamin’ Dick and the Hot Rods, 19-Year-Old Award-Winning Elvis Tribute Artist Jeffrey Krick, Jr., Special $25.00 Bracelet Ride Price with Majestic Midways, the Flying Dutchmen Aeromodelers, and the Berks Co.
