Berks Encore-Strausstown Hosts Introduction to Genealogy Classes

Sessions Engage Participants in Family History

Shillington, PA— Berks Encore–Strausstown is hosting the introductory session, “What Is This Thing Called Genealogy,” on Monday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m.  Local genealogy enthusiast Carl Bloss will share the joys of learning about one’s family history. There is no fee for the session.

During this initial session, Bloss will discuss where to begin and what to look for when researching your family history.  For those seeking more information about discovering their past, a four-week series of classes will be held on Mondays beginning on July 10 and running through July 31. These classes will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The class series carries a one-time $5 fee for printouts.

Local genealogy enthusiast Carl Bloss will share the joys of learning about one’s family history. According to Bloss, tracing your roots can help you learn more about the members of your family whom you never had an opportunity to meet.  Beginning your family research can seem confusing and often intimidating due to the large number and varying type of websites, libraries and printed resources to access. These classes are designed to help learners navigate the steps in tracing your family history and share helpful strategies for your continued journey.

Berks Encore-Strausstown is located at 44 East Avenue, Strausstown.  For more information or to register for Introduction to Genealogy, please contact Strausstown center manager Andrea Gebely at 610-488-5770.
