Antietam Farmers Market Saturday July 15 – Summertime is here!

Antietam Farmers Market Saturday July 15 – Summertime is here!

More summer fun at the Antietam Valley Farmers Market! We welcome back market favorite Sue Siegrist of Tula Yoga Center, leading Yoga in the Park for Everyone at 9am. Meet at the grove of trees by the lake, rain or shine!

We also are pleased to have representatives from the newly-formed Berks County Watershed Stewards at our Community Table. The Master Watershed Steward program is based on the highly successful Master Gardener program. The program partners with Berks Nature, the Berks County Conservation District, and other experts to create a corps of citizen scientists who, in turn, volunteer in the community to pass their knowledge to youths, adults and elected officials through educational programming and on-the-ground restoration projects.

Neil’s Sharpening Service will be at our market, taking care of all your knife and scissor issues! He does a wonderful job. With all of these summer vegetables and fruits waiting to be made into pies, salads, and more, there is no time to be frustrated with a dull knife. Bring them to market, and let Neil sharpen while you shop! Prices can be found on his website.

Stop by our Kids Activity Table next to the Little Free Library! We’ve given it a fresh look with some new playthings.

Community News

The AVCP will continue to accept donations throughout July at the market tent to benefit the neighborhood family affected by the car accident on Carsonia Avenue last week. We are grateful for the community support and are honored to be part of such a wonderfully generous place to live. Thank you to everyone who made contributions through AVCP, Rita’s Water Ice, or Klinger’s on Carsonia.

The folks from the Carsonia Craft Beer Fest will be at the market selling tickets for this year’s event! Tickets will be sold at each market, but don’t dilly-dally, get yours on Saturday!

Tickets will be on sale this Saturday and every Saturday of the market for the 3rd Annual Carsonia Craft Beer & Wine Amusement on Saturday, October 14, 2017. This very popular event has sold out every year, so be sure to purchase your tickets early. Featuring over 25 local and national craft breweries, wineries, and cideries, the CCBWA will also showcase our local restaurants, live music, and cigars. Tickets are $35 until September 30th, and $45 after September 30th and at the door. Both cash and credit cards will be accepted. Tickets will also be available for purchase online at www.antietamvalley.org/ccbwa

Our new frequent shopper punch cards are here…stop by the market tent and ask us. So many of you have been asking about them!

LITTLE FREE LIBRARY SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

Our Little Free Library (LFL) is part of the LFL book exchange around the world, promoting a literacy-friendly neighborhood and the love of reading by providing a hub for books to be shared. Our Little Free Library was designed and built by volunteers and is reminiscent of a vintage Carsonia Park ticket booth. Visit the Farmers’ Market from 9-12 each Saturday to Take a Book, Share a Book, or Give a Book. Our LFL is registered on the World Map at www.littlefreelibrary.org. It will be available for use during market hours only. We would like to thank everyone who generously donated books to the Little Free Library at market. It is a great source of enjoyment for both young and old and helps spread the power of sharing books and the joy of reading. If you have books you no longer want, please consider donating them to our Free Little Library.  We’ll make it easy for you: Look for our donation bin next to the LFL at market where you can drop and then shop.
