Joint Venture to expand pediatric medical services for Berks Community Health Center

READING, PA. — Berks Community Health Center (BCHC) and All About Children Pediatric Partners (AACPP) announced jointly today that they have signed a letter of intent for AACPP to become part of BCHC as of January 1, 2018. The acquisition will make the pediatric medical practice BCHC’s fourth Community Health Center site in Berks County. The letter of intent has been approved by BCHC’s Board of Directors and the shareholders of AACPP. Employees of both organizations have been notified.

Integrating AACPP into Berks Community Health Center will enhance the ability of both organizations to meet the ever-evolving health care needs of the community, said BCHC CEO Mary Kargbo. “During the past 26 years, Dr. Kimball and her partners have built an innovative and inclusive pediatric practice that aligns closely with BCHC’s mission as a Community Health Center,” said Mrs. Kargbo. “They are deeply committed, as we are, to ensuring that every single patient receives the best possible care.”

“We are so pleased with the opportunity to join Berks Community Health Center,” said Dr. Kimball. “We are all committed to completing the process with minimal inconvenience to our patients. This will allow All About Children Pediatric Partners to sustain its mission into the future, as I pursue a role that allows me to mentor and continue community outreach for the Health Center.”

The shared values of the two organizations were a major factor in the decision, explained Dr. Kimball. “Like BCHC, we accept all insurances,” she said. “And, as a private practice, we have always worked with the financial needs of families so that every child can receive care, whether or not the family can pay immediately. Our goal is to help families achieve the best possible outcomes for their children.”

A non-profit Federally-Qualified Health Center (FQHC), BCHC offers a sliding fee discount program based on income to all patients, ensuring care is available to all regardless of ability to pay. BCHC’s current services at three locations include family medicine, dental, OB/GYN and prenatal care, podiatry, optometry, chiropractic, behavioral health and nutrition counseling. “This integration,” said Mary Kargbo, “will allow families to receive primary care from one organization that has combined expertise in family medicine and pediatrics, as well as offering access to the array of other services.”

Details of the acquisition, including the branding of the new health center site, will be completed in the coming months. “The identity of All About Children Pediatric Partners is esteemed in Berks County,” said Mrs. Kargbo, “and we will be sure to preserve that identity as they become a part of BCHC.”
