Royals Reschedule Sunday Game to Set Up Two-Game Season Opening Series at Santander Arena

The Reading Royals have announced that the team’s game against the Wheeling Nailers at Santander Arena originally set for Sunday, March 18, 2018, has been rescheduled to Sunday, October 22 @ 4 p.m.

The newly rescheduled Sunday game sets up a weekend two-game set for the Royals to kick off the 2017-18 ECHL season. The Seventeenth Season of Purple Pride launches on Saturday, October 21 @ 4 p.m. when the Adirondack Thunder visit Santander Arena.

Opening Day for the Royals will be replete with action and activities, as the team will hit high gear with the annual Block Party on Penn Street, which will be held directly outside Santander Arena and will run from 1 – 3 pm, featuring live music with the ‘The Uptown Band’. The Purple Pride Block Party will have food, drink, and lots of fun for everyone in the family with a packed lineup of activities.

After the Purple Pride Block Party on Penn Street, everyone will head inside Santander Arena where the team will take on the arch rival Thunder in the first of what will be fourteen match-ups between the two teams over the course of the regular season. Everyone in attendance for the season opener will get a Purple Pride T-shirt courtesy of Met-Ed – a First Energy Company. In addition to the heated hockey on the ice, the Royals anticipate whipping the crowd into a wild frenzy with cheers led by a huge group of youth cheerleaders, who will be leading the Purple Pride cheers and charge.

The next afternoon (Sunday, October 22 @ 4 pm), in the rescheduled game against the Nailers, the Royals will host the season’s first Sunday Four-for-$44 Family Day at Santander Arena. For just $44, fans get four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas courtesy of Safe Berks, the Berks Packing Company, and Coca-Cola.
