Wilson School District Announces Dr. Matthew Flannery as Choice for Assistant Superintendent

The Wilson School District is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Matthew Flannery as Assistant Superintendent of Schools.

Dr. Flannery has been employed by the Wilson School District for over 11 years and is currently serving as the principal of Shiloh Hills Elementary School, where he received a nomination for the 2017 National Distinguished Principal award. Prior to serving at Shiloh Hills, Dr. Flannery was the principal of Wilson’s Lincoln Park and West Wyomissing Elementary Schools, were he worked to transform the schools from the lowest performing in the district to the highest.

Previously, Dr. Flannery taught at the elementary and secondary school level in both non-public and public schools. After leaving the classroom, he served as an assistant principal in the Allentown and Lebanon School Districts before joining the Wilson School District in 2006. He received both his Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Administration and Doctorate of Education from Immaculata University. Dr. Flannery is a 1988 graduate of Wilson High School.

According to Dr. Richard Faidley, Superintendent, “Dr. Flannery’s proven leadership in the Wilson School District, combined with his extensive experience working with a diverse population, makes him an excellent choice for this position. His work within the Wilson School District is commendable. The schools that he led have consistently been high performing, receiving recognition for their superior academic excellence.”

In his new role as Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Flannery will supervise and direct the evaluation and development of building-level leadership as well as complete professional development initiatives related to principal and teacher evaluation. He will work closely with the Superintendent to create quality instructional practices that result in superior academic achievement for all our students.

He is to be congratulated for his impressive work with our schools and community, which has consistently resulted in Wilson receiving recognition on the National level.
