Volunteers Needed for Department of Corrections Financial Reality Fairs

Volunteers Needed for Department of Corrections Financial Reality Fairs

Volunteers are still needed at each of the five locations of the upcoming Department of Corrections Financial Reality Fairs.

The Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation is partnering with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (DOC) and the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities to host Financial Reality Fairs for DOC reentrants in the Erie, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Reading, and Harrisburg Community Corrections Centers (CCC).

All five Fairs will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017, from 9 a.m. to noon. The Foundation is asking area credit unions to participate by volunteering for this one-of-a-kind Financial Reality Fair.

• Reading – Thirty-seven volunteers are still needed at the West Lawn United Methodist Church, 5 Woodside Avenue

Ideally, volunteers should work well with people, be flexible, be willing to follow the program guidelines, be able to commit to the full program morning (8:30 a.m. to about 12 noon) and have an understanding of the process for developing a household budget.

This will be an impactful program, which will make a real difference in people’s lives. Please consider volunteering and being a part of this record-breaking morning of “People Helping People.”  Prior experience with Financial Reality Fairs is not required. Please email Kathleen Fey – Kathleen Fey <[email protected]> directly with the names and email addresses of those who would like to volunteer. Each volunteer will receive detailed information on their Fair assignment, and day-of training will be provided.
