Reading Public Library Celebrating Teen Read Week: October 8 – 14

Reading, PA –   Reading Public Library’s Teen Loft will take part in the Young Adult Library Services Association’s annual Teen Read Week, from October 8 to 14. Teen Read Week™ is a national adolescent literacy initiative created by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA). This year’s theme, “Unleash Your Story” encourages teens to tell their own stories as well as find stories, biographies, folktales, and more in their local library.

Teen Read Week at Reading Public Library will be celebrated in a variety of ways throughout the month of October.  All four branches will participate in a Teen Amnesty Program where teens can read down their fines by being awarded one $1.00 RPL buck per half hour of reading.

Month long activities at Main include a bookmark station, give and take book swap, and Instagram postings of teens “getting their read on.” The Teen Loft will feature Teen Book Reviews based on the question “What book would you save from a fire and why?” Teens are invited to review their favorite books which will then be available for check out.

Activities at Main during Teen Read Week are scheduled as follows:
