Governor Mifflin joins businesses, organizations for community-wide Homecoming celebration

This weekend marks the start of a new tradition for the Governor Mifflin School District with a community-wide Homecoming Celebration. The three-part event starts with the inaugural Mifflin Retro Run. This 2.6 mile fun run/walk routes participants through five of the district’s six school buildings. Each building will be decorated to celebrate decades past and runners will be challenged to answer district trivia in a scavenger hunt.

The Retro Run finish line will be located in front of Governor Mifflin High School, where 40 local businesses and organizations will be set up as part of a community tailgate party. The district is providing the space free of charge in an effort to showcase local businesses. Each participating business or organization will have a game or giveaway to help engage visitors of all ages. Members of the Governor Mifflin Marching Band and Governor Mifflin alumnus, Erich Cawalla of The Uptown Band, will be providing strolling music throughout the event. The tailgate party will wrap up in time for the kickoff of the Homecoming football game. The Governor Mifflin Mustangs (6-1) will host the Reading Red Knights (2-5) at Governor Mifflin Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
