Reading School District’s Athletic Department will host recognition ceremony on Oct. 27

As a way to honor past athletic accomplishments and inspire our current students, the Reading School District’s Athletic Department is recognizing former athletes, coaches and teams year-round.

The “Past, Present, Future” effort began several years ago when the department retired Stu Jackson’s RHS basketball jersey. Last spring, the department relaunched the effort and honored the late Ruth Hartman, who established the softball program at Reading High School.

Next, the department will honor 40th anniversary of the 1977 Central Penn Football Championship Team on Friday, Oct. 27. A brief recognition ceremony will be held at 7:30 p.m., prior to the Red Knights vs. Exeter Eagles football game at Albright College’s Shirk Stadium.

For more information or if you know a coach and/or player from the 1977 team who would like to attend the recognition ceremony, please contact Mr. Danny Scott, assistant director of athletics, at [email protected] or 484-258-7435.
