Valera Tallies Women’s Soccer Player of the Week Honors

ANNVILLE, Pa. – After tallying a pair of game-winning goals last week, Albright senior women’s soccer player Morgan Valera earned MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week honors, announced by the conference on Monday, Oct. 23.

Valera opened the week by scoring her first goal of the season on the road against Alvernia on Wednesday night. The goal in the 18th minute was the only goal the Lions needed as they defeated the Golden Wolves 1-0. Valera continued her clutch ways on Saturday evening when she scored the game-winning goal in the 65th minute off a free kick that found its way through traffic in the Lions 2-1 comeback win over Hood.

A native of Willow Grove, Pa., Valera has now tallied points in three straight games after posting an assist against Penn State Berks on October 14th. This is the second time that Valera has earned MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week honors in her collegiate career as she earned the award once last season in the final week of the regular season.

The Albright women’s soccer team will return to action on October 24th when they will host Widener in MAC Commonwealth play on senior night at 7:30 p.m.
