Proceeds from upcoming event will be used to advance patient care
Reading, Pa — Penn State Health St. Joseph’s Charity Ball is Saturday, November 11, 2017, at the Crowne Plaza Reading. Nearly 380 attendees are expected at the 90th anniversary of the affair, hosted by St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation.
Net proceeds will support the acquisition of new medical equipment and technology to advance patient care at Penn State Health St. Joseph, according to Michelle Drager, Senior Director of the St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation
Drager says the ball will be “an elegant evening of fellowship, dining and dancing, with music provided by the Renaissance Orchestra and the menu prepared by Chef Tim Twiford and his culinary team.”
The theme for this year is A Crystal Celebration and commemorates the event’s 90th anniversary. Guests will be able to purchase a signature crystal ornament, bid on silent auction items, or purchase a gift box as ways to give during the event.
Medical staff president and Chief of Oncology, Dr. Marc Rovito, the honorary ball chair, says the ball has a long history among Berks County’s philanthropic events.
“Since its founding in 1927, the Charity Ball has raised millions of dollars to support St. Joseph’s healthcare mission of clinical excellence and compassionate care in our community,” Dr. Rovito said. “For many years it was organized by the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliaries, later by The Women’s Board of St. Joseph’s Hospital and today by the St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation and the volunteer Charity Ball Planning Committee.”
The 2017 Charity Ball is the culmination of months of planning by the Charity Ball Planning Committee, co-chaired by Gaye Corbin and Nancy Hippert and foundation staff. Planning Committee members include Ashley Borgatta, Rosanna Borgatta, Kim Dolan, Rachel Ehrhart, Dan Gallagher, Nicole Gallagher, Kim Hippert-Eversgerd, Patty Kelly, Morgan Miller, Barb Moyer, Habida Popal and Lori Shober.
Presenting sponsor of the Charity Ball is the St. Joseph Medical Center Auxiliary.
