New youth service program named YVC New Affiliate of the Year
Reading, Penn. – Youth Volunteer Corps of Reading has been named the 2017 New Affiliate of the Year by YVC Headquarters. Hosted by VOiCEup Berks, YVC of Reading is a new volunteer program for youth ages 11 to 18 that launched earlier this year. The New Affiliate of the Year Award was awarded at the YVC Summit in Kansas City, Mo. On Oct. 28.
“YVC of Reading has hit the ground running, already having a transformative impact on both their youth volunteers and the community where they serve,” said David Battey, president and founder of Youth Volunteer Corps. “We are so inspired by their impact and can’t wait to see what they accomplish in the years to come.”
YVC of Readings has already enabled 226 youth volunteers to serve a total of 1,100 hours this year. These youth volunteered on 41 service projects, helping at 21 local nonprofit agencies.
“VOiCEup Berks has a great team with strong backgrounds in volunteer service and professional service forming an unstoppable combination and the perfect foundation for a strong YVC program,” Battey said. “We can’t wait to see the impact they will have in the years to come.”
Youth Volunteer Corps of Reading’s mission is to create volunteer opportunities to address community needs and to inspire youth for a lifetime commitment to service.
