Reading Hospital,Acadia Healthcare Announce Partnership to Expand Behavioral Health Services

Reading Hospital and Acadia Healthcare announced a joint venture partnership to provide behavioral health services to Berks and the surrounding counties, including the construction of a new 144-bed inpatient facility. This new integrated behavioral health campus will be located on Route 183 in Bern Township on an 82 acre parcel of land, allowing for future growth. Construction will begin early 2018 with an anticipated opening in early 2019.

The new facility will include inpatient adolescent, adult and geriatric psychiatric care. It will also include partial hospitalization programming, intensive outpatient program services, outpatient counseling, and physician professional services, consultation, and chemical dependency care. Other services are being evaluated for the behavioral health campus.

Behavioral health affects millions of Americans every year. The 2016 Berks County Community Health Needs Assessment identified a significant need for behavioral healthcare and chemical dependency treatment services in the Berks County region.  The study showed that one in five residents of Berks County has been diagnosed with either an anxiety or depressive disorder and two in five had activity limitations due to poor physical or mental health.  Acadia Healthcare offers extensive national experience in behavioral healthcare with a demonstrated standard of excellence in the treatment of behavioral health and addiction disorders. Together, with Reading Hospital’s demonstrated high quality care, this collaboration will address a very critical community health need.
