INDIANAPOLIS – For the third straight season, the Albright Lions women’s basketball team earned a bid to the Division III NCAA Tournament as the bracket was unveiled on February 26. The Lions received an at-large bid, and will face Gettysburg at Montclair State University on Friday night.
The Lions finished the regular season with a record of 20-7 and made it to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament Final for the fourth straight season where they lost to Messiah. Albright has two wins over teams that made the NCAA Tournament in Tufts and Messiah during the regular season. The Jumbos were ranked No.1 in the country at the time Albright defeated them in late December. Albright features a starting lineup of four seniors that includes MAC Commonwealth player of the year, Alysha Lofton.
The Bullets finished with a record of 25-2 overall won the Centennial Conference with a 44-35 win over Haverford on Saturday evening. Gettysburg features three players in double-figures in scoring that is led by senior Emma Dorshimer at 14.4 points per game. Dorshimer also ranks third in the Centennial with a 42 percent shooting clip from beyond the arc.
Montclair State (23-3) will serve as the host for the first two rounds and will face Skyline Conference champion Old Westbury (23-3) in the other first round game on Friday night.
