On March 14, 2018, Annarose Ingarra-Milch of Reading, PA, author of the award winning novel, Lunch with Lucille, will be the keynote speaker at the 2018 Forum on Aging hosted by the Council on Aging, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Nurses, social workers, and nursing home administrators will be the audience as Ms. Ingarra-Milch offers an inspiring reminder that caregivers first need to take care of themselves so that then they are able to take care of others.
“It is no secret that people are living longer. Many are in need of care, some with simple activities of daily living, like dressing and cooking, while others have debilitating illnesses that require 24 hour monitoring. The demand for help may fall to family members or healthcare professionals. Those of us who have been through such an experience with a loved one or work in the industry, know that either way, caregiving can be quite stressful and burnout is a real concern. And of course, not a healthy situation for anyone.”
Ms. Ingarra-Milch’s message will inspire caregivers to think of their own well-being realizing that taking care of themselves is not a luxury but a necessity. “My goal is to offer simple practical tips and techniques along with empowering words so that each person in the convention center stops to think about their own emotional and physical health as they selflessly care for another. I want to remind this treasured group of individuals that they are an asset. In fact, they are their best asset – and like any other asset, they need to protect and nurture themselves so they stay safe and grow.”
The keynote will pull from “Lunch with Lucille’s” universal life lessons and best practices which have been featured in the Wall Street Journal MarketWatch Retirement Living and TDAmeritrade online, on television, in magazine articles, and radio talk shows and podcasts.
