Albright’s Freedman Gallery Presents André Terrel Jackson, Fashioning Identities: Remixed

Reading, Pa. – Albright College’s Freedman Gallery will present André Terrel Jackson, Fashioning Identities: Remixed, on view in the Project Space, March 20toApril 22. The exhibition is free and open to the public:

Albright 2013 alumnus, André Terrel Jackson, remixes visual references from history, pop culture, diasporic cultures and his own personal experiences with family and friends in the pursuit of his creative process. Based in fiber, Jackson’s mixed-media works cause viewers to investigate and question assumptions about identity politics. By transforming, juxtaposing and adapting common materials into his works, he examines the contradictions within and forces us to think differently about concepts related to beauty, identity and race.

Running concurrently to André Terrel Jackson, Fashioning Identities: Remixed is Joan Linder, Operation Sunshine, on view in Main Gallery and Foyer, running until April 8.

The Freedman Gallery in the Center for the Arts is located on 13th and Bern streets in Reading. Exhibitions and programs in the visual arts at Albright College and The Freedman Gallery are generously supported by The Silverweed Foundation in honor of Doris C. Freedman, the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts and its partner, the Berks Arts Council, and the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
