(Reading, Pa.) – The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Berks Regional Chapter has received the 2017 Friends of Diversity Designation.

Annually, AFP, the world’s largest association of professional fundraisers, recognizes chapters who have accomplished many of the key objectives outlined in the advancing diversity strategic goal. This designation encourages chapters to perform specific activities designed to increase diversity within fundraising and to bring public awareness of the importance of philanthropy in all cultures.

AFP Berks Regional Chapter is honored to be one of the 82 chapters world-wide who have been chosen to receive this important designation.  The AFP Berks Regional Chapter is proud to be recognized for our role in advancing diversity and promoting public awareness of the importance of philanthropy in all cultures.

Objectives for this distinguished designation are determined by AFP International Headquarters. A list of the goals is published annually. Chapters must accomplish 6 of these goals during the year and submit a nomination form for verification to receive this award.

The (AFP) Berks Regional Chapter has also been named a 2017 Ten Star Chapter.

AFP honors chapters for achieving goals that align with key objectives in its long-range strategic plan. Chapters receive the Ten Star Award for performing specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy. Only one-third of all AFP chapters are named Ten Star Chapters, and Berks Regional Chapter is honored to be a part of this select group of chapters.

AFP Berks Regional Chapter’s Board and all of our members are committed to the AFP mission of enabling people and organizations to practice ethical and effective fundraising in the communities we serve.  We are proud to join the other AFP chapters worldwide, who have achieved the Ten Star status for 2017.

Ten Star Chapters are recognized at the AFP International Conference on Fundraising. Chapters also earn the privilege of displaying the Ten Star logo on all public materials.

The Berks Regional Chapter is playing a key role in promoting ethical and effective fundraising and educating the public about the importance of philanthropy and wise giving to the success of communities. Being designated as a Ten Star Chapter is an honor that is bestowed on chapters that demonstrate outstanding programming and leadership. If individuals and organizations in the Berks county and surrounding area have questions about fundraising and philanthropy, they should consider joining AFP’s Berks Regional Chapter.

Criteria for the award are determined by AFP International Headquarters. A list of several goals is published annually, and chapters must accomplish 10 of these goals during the year and submit a nomination form for verification to be honored.
