Guenzel and Gilbert Named Alvernia Athletes of the Week

 (April 9, 2018) – Men’s Track and Field sophomore Hunter Guenzel and Women’s Golf Junior Emily Gilbert have been named Alvernia University Athletes of the Week.

Guenzel (Ewing, N.J.) won the javelin throw at the Golden Wolves Open with a throw of 54.96m that broke the Alvernia school record and ranks 28th in the nation.

Gilbert (Gilbertsville, Pa.) averaged 85.5 in two matches this week…she won her 16th career low medalist honors with an 84 at Hershey Country Club in the MAC Preview then was tied for 6th overall, and highest Division III finisher, at the Kutztown Invitational with an 87.

Gilbert was also recognized as a MAC Commonwealth Conference Athlete of the Week for the period of April 2-8.
