St. Francis Home Takes Another Step Forward

St. Francis Home Takes Another Step Forward

On April 4, 2018 the Greater Reading Chamber and Economic Development Corp. reinforced the significant need for services that St. Francis Home offers in the community, by sponsoring a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Chamber President and CEO, Randy Peers, presented Nancy Schwartz, St. Francis Home President, with an award recognizing the home as a welcome gift to the community.

Dr. Leif Christansen spoke about his experience as a St. Francis Home Board member and echoed the dream of two hospice nurses. This dream started years ago, while caring for terminally ill patients. During their career, they witnessed many in our community, who had no family to assist them while dealing with a terminal illness. He spoke about their dream, taking on wings and capturing the attention of a few who took that dream and never stopped moving forward until the dream was reality.

Mr. Michael Feeney, of Feeney Funeral Home, also emphasized the importance of this mission. He expressed that hie is honored to be part of this role in creating a peaceful home, both inside and out. With warm heart and generosity, he presented St. Francis Home with a donation and the offer of more sod to protect the home from possible mud erosion.

Today, the doors to St. Francis Home are open to care for individuals who need our support. The dream still needs the community to assist with volunteering their time and talent.

The foundation of the St. Francis Home mission statement is based on loving, caring and dedicated volunteers.
