Undefeated Week Earns Munoz PSAC Athlete of the Week

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Martin Munoz went 4-0 last week, leading the Kutztown University men’s tennis team to an undefeated 2-0 and earning himself this week’s Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week.

Munoz’ 4-0 mark included the match-clinching win over Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday, April 8.

Thursday vs. West Chester, he won in tiebreakers at No. 1 singles. He opened with a 6-2 win, dropped the second set 6-4, and fought back to win 10-5 in the final frame. Munoz also won at No. 3 doubles with teammate David Nunez Contreras, 8-2.

Sunday against Roberts Wesleyan, Munoz pulled out an 8-6 doubles win. At No. 1 singles, he dropped the first set 6-2, but roared back with a 7-5, 10-8 win to seal KU’s 6-3 team victory.

This season, Munoz is 5-6 in singles action, including 2-2 in PSAC play. He is 5-5 in doubles play, also 2-2 in the PSAC, and has teamed with four different partners this year.
