Berks Country Fest is back with 5 major shows plus community events

READING, PA – Berks Country Fest, presented by Pretzel City Productions LLC, is back! This year, we’re extending the party throughout the month of June.

With five major concerts and more than 20 community events, we offer something for everyone. It truly is a family festival.

The festival is sponsored by The Highlands of Wyomissing, PA Dermatology Partners and Queen City Family Restaurant.

We kick off our Pretzel City Concert Series June 6 at 7 p.m. with a Storytellers Evening featuring Jill Haley with Sue McDevitt and David Cullen: Soundscapes – “Waters of the Glacier.” The Berks History Center hosts this unique multimedia show. Haley is accompanied by McDevitt and Cullen while the audience enjoys a video of the images which inspired Haley during her month-long stay at Glacier National Park.

Join us for three hours of toe-tapping, boot-stomping line dancing fun on June 7 at C.J. Hummel’s Dance Hall, Restaurant and Gathering Place in Lenhartsville. For only $6, dance the night away from 8-11 p.m., with a late-night DJ taking over until 12:45 a.m.

On June 16, we ramp things up with a Rock-A-Billy Music & Dance Party featuring Bill Haley Jr. & the Comets at the Evergreen German Club from 7-11 p.m. Presented by Surgical Institute of Reading, this show will feature two additional bands – Drew & the Blue Duo and The Ultra Kings – as well as dance and street rod contests.

Our fourth annual Guitar-A-Rama gets a bit of a makeover this year. This unique combination of teaching opportunities and performances by renowned guitarists appeals to musicians and music lovers alike. Held throughout the day on June 23, Guitar-A-Rama is presented by Reading Musical Foundation & Eye Consultants of PA, and tied to the Reading Musical Foundation’s Olivets Boys & Girls Club Guitar Lessons After School project. The students, under the mentorship of Josh Taylor, will also perform at some point during the show.

Attendees also will be treated to music from Craig Thatcher, Jay & Lee World Guitar Trio, and Alex Fox Trio. There are two ticketed performances, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., at GoggleWorks Center for the Arts.

We’re thrilled to announce a new show this year, the Got Talent Showcase, June 29 from 6:30-10:30 p.m. at Oley Fairgrounds. This show puts a spotlight on local and regional talent while giving these musicians the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience.

Among the bands performing are Uncle Jake & the 18 Wheel Gang, Sam Schmidthuber, Grexin, Steel Guitar Jammers, The Martin Sisters and more. Tickets are only $8!

Add in a wide variety of community events like food truck and rail festivals, outdoor concerts, street and food fairs, pretzel factory tours and dance classes, and you have a month jam-packed with fun and music!
