ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Albright Lions women’s lacrosse team saw four athletes be named to the MAC Commonwealth Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference team, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Junior Sophie Bass earned first team honors and sophomore Kelly Baumann, senior Alyssa Porreca, and freshman Terae Mason all garnered second team honors.
Bass earned All-MAC Commonwealth first team honors for the first time in her collegiate career, and second straight All-MAC Commonwealth accolade after being named honorable mention last season. She has had a career year offensively with 55 goals and 63 points so far this season, and eclipsed the 100 career goal mark as well. Those two 2018 season numbers rank second on the team, while ranking tied for fourth in the conference in goals, and 10th in points. She has tallied 10 hat tricks in 17 games this season, and set a new single-game best with eight goals against Arcadia on April 6th.
Baumann is having a career year offensively as well with 57 goals and 16 assists to total 73 points. She currently ranks third in the conference in goals, and is tied for fifth in points. Baumann also has two single-season Albright program records in her sight as she sits four goals behind single-season goals record, and seven points behind the single-season points record. Like Bass, Baumann has eclipsed a career milestone as well by reaching 100 points in her sophomore season. She had one of the biggest offensive performances in program history for a single game against McDaniel when she tallied nine goals and two assists.
Mason earned All-Conference honors in her debut season at Albright. In just her freshman season, Mason has emerged as one of the top goalkeepers in the conference as she ranks among the league leaders in goalie categories. She currently ranks second in the conference with a .533 save percentage and 10.76 saves per game, holds the fourth lowest GAA at 9.14, and is tied for first with 11 wins. Mason has also stamped herself in the Lions record books on multiple occasions as well. Her 11 wins and 178 saves are both now single-season bests, and she has established a new single-game high in saves with 15 on four separate occasions.
In her final season at Albright, Porreca garnered All-conference honors for the first time in her collegiate career. She helped lead a Lions defense that has allowed the third-fewest goals in the conference, and tied for second with 180 caused turnovers. Porreca also completely blew away her previous season high of five in caused turnovers as she has tallied 27 so far this season which ranks eighth in the conference. She sits five caused turnovers behind the Lions single-season record of 32.
