(May 1, 2018) – Reading United A.C., the official developmental partner of the Philadelphia Union, have announced two fan-focused events to celebrate the beginning of the 2018 Premier Development League season. United will host a Meet the Team event on Monday, May 7 at P.J. Whelihan’s on Van Reed Road in Sinking Spring and chalk talk with the United coaching staff at the Broken Chair Brewery in West Reading on Thursday, May 10th. Both events begin at 7 pm and are open to fans and media.

Just blocks away from Wilson High School’s Gurski Stadium, Reading United’s home for the 2018 season, P.J. Whelihan’s on Van Reed Road will host United’s first Meet the Team event of 2018. This family-friendly event will feature Reading United players and coaches and will be highlighted by the unveiling of United’s 2018 jersey. Fans will also be able to pick up their 2018 season tickets.

Broken Chair Brewery, a new tasting room located on West Reading’s vibrant Penn Avenue corridor, will host a Reading United coaches’ question and answer session. Fans twenty-one and older can chat with new Reading United coaches Alan McCann, Mark Hanlon and Shane Keely about all things soccer related while trying the Broken Chair Brewery’s new Reading United inspired beer.

Reading United General Manager George Gadebusch is looking forward to the club’s kickoff celebration saying, “We are excited for the start of the 2018 season and for the experience that our great fans will get at both of these events and our upcoming home games. Both P.J. Whelihan’s and Broken Chair are great local community partners of ours so we feel that these events are a perfect way to highlight these excellent venues and give fans close and personal exposure to Reading United players and coaches.”

The fan events will bookend Reading United’s first match of 2018, a U.S. Open Cup first round match against Maryland amateur powerhouse Christos FC on Wednesday, May 9th. The match, hosted by Alvernia University, will be played at the all-new Alvernia University Stadium in Reading.

United begin their 2018 PDL schedule on Saturday, May 12 at 7 pm when they travel to Allentown to face Lehigh Valley United. United open their 2018 home schedule on Saturday, May 26, hosting FA Euro at Wilson High School’s Gurski Stadium in a 7 pm kickoff.
