MAC Commonwealth Tennis Player of the Year 2018

ANNVILLE, Pa. – For the second straight year, Lions sophomore tennis player Mara Trifoi was named MAC Commonwealth women’s tennis player of the year, announced by the conference on May 4.

Trifoi was named MAC Commonwealth women’s tennis player of the year in her freshman season a year ago, while being named rookie of the year as well. She became the first player to be named both MAC Commonwealth Player and Rookie of the Year in the same season since another Albright player, Victoria Foanio, earned those honors in 2011. Trifoi also garnered MAC Commonwealth first-team honors as well with her second player of the year accolade.

She picked up right where she left off a year ago by posting a 14-3 overall record, and another perfect 6-0 record in MAC Commonwealth play out of the No. 1 spot. Trifoi went 12-2 in dual matches and made it back to the MAC Tournament Semifinals for the second straight year. She was named MAC Commonwealth women’s tennis player of the week for September 25th, and closed the season in the spring with seven straight singles wins. Trifoi also picked up four wins as well from the No.1 doubles spot with senior Amanda Camporeale.
