The Wyomissing Public Library’s Second Saturday Veterans Program will feature a program about America’s first women soldiers, the “Hello Girls” of World War I. Former teacher Hallie Freebourn Vaughn will tell the stories of the women who were recruited by General Pershing to serve in the Signal Corps in England and France as telephone operators.

Ms. Vaughn writes a blog for the Berks History Center about Women’s History, and is a member of the Berks chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The Wyomissing Public Library is located at 9 Reading Boulevard in Wyomissing. The program is free and open to the public; registration is requested. To register, visit or call 610-374-2385.
