After accelerating efforts with donation collection and item sorting, Berks Book Bonanza prepares for the 2018 used-book sale occurring July 13-15 inside the Berkshire Mall.
The annual fundraiser co-sponsored by the Friends of Berks County Public Libraries and the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Reading Branch only recently found a temporary sale location at the Berkshire Mall in a vacant store area next to Coventry Corners. The extraordinary efforts from volunteers that make up the non-profit association made this year’s sale possible, condensing a 12-month process down to just three.
The new location isn’t the only change affecting the sale this year. Book Bonanza will span three days compared to its previous four, removing the Early Bird sale from the lineup. Due to space limitations, there will be no holding room and collectibles will not be sold. In addition, scanners, carts, strollers, or rolling duffels will not be allowed. The changes to the 2018 sale will help offer the maximum number of items to shoppers in the space allowed with over 50,000 books ready for opening day.
The sale will continue to offer the same wide variety of gently used materials for sale including books, audiobooks, DVD’s, CD’s, games, puzzles, and other items. Prices will remain the same with no regular items over $2.00 and sets/series reasonably priced as marked. Sunday will also be the $5.00 Bag of Books sale–anything that can fill a bag for one flat price. Bags must be purchased at the sale.
All the materials are donated by Berks Countians, and all proceeds from the sale return to Berks County through the Friends organization and AAUW-Reading Branch. Through the sale, buyers aid libraries in Berks County and help provide girls’ scholarships.
The 2018 Berks Book Bonanza sale will occur on the following dates:
– Friday, July 13 from 10:00 AM—8:00 PM
– Saturday, July 14 from 10:00 AM—7:00 PM
– Sunday, July 15 from 11:00 AM—3:00 PM (bag of books sale)
