Annual Block Party coming up at Wyomissing Public Library

The Wyomissing Public Library will wrap up its Summer Learning Program on Saturday, August 18th with a Block Party which will be held on the library grounds, and in the building, at 9 Reading Boulevard in Wyomissing. The party will be held rain or shine starting at 10 AM and ending at 1 PM, and is open to the public.

The block party will feature a Bouncy House, a Dunk Tank, bean bag and ring toss games and bowling, plus face painting, a story time with the Childrens Librarian, live music, a yard sale, and a thrift store managed by the library’s Teen Advisory Board. Touch-a-Truck vehicles will include police cars and a fire truck and ambulance, plus a school bus and a historic bookmobile.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center will hold a blood drive at the library from 9 AM until 12:30 PM. Potential donors may schedule a time slot by calling the library at 610-374-2385. Individuals must have a valid photo ID.

Barry Kauffman, author of “Good Morning Thun, Good Morning Jannsen,” will be at the Block Party and will sign and sell copies of the book.  All proceeds benefit the library.

Hot dogs, soft pretzels and ice cream are among the food treats that will be available for purchase during the event; proceeds from those sales also benefit the library.

No registration is required. For more information visit the library website, www.wyopublib.org, or call 610-374-2385.
