Nun Run Adds Shoe Drive to Benefit Soles4Souls

Nun Run

September 15 at 10 a.m. marks the start time for the ninth annual NUN RUN at Sacred Heart Villa, 51 Seminary Ave., Reading. Two hundred people have pre-registered to either run the 5k course, run the 1M youth run or walk one mile to support the missions and lives of the Missionary Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus (MSC). The 5k course begins at Sacred Heart Villa in Muhlenberg Township and then winds down through Gethsemane Cemetery, while the 1 mile walk and youth run remain on the Villa grounds.

Festivities include our Master of Ceremonies Jo Painter, an invocation and singing of the National Anthem, music, prizes and food. Volunteers from various organizations are joining in to make our event successful. Every dollar raised directly funds the mission and lives of the MSC Sisters.

New for 2018 will be our Nun Run collection of men’s, women’s and children’s gently-worn or new shoes, sneakers, and boots on behalf of Soles4Souls. Non-profit Soles4Souls disrupts the cycle of poverty by creating sustainable jobs and providing relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world. Since 2006, it has distributed more than 30 million pairs of shoes in 127 countries. Visit soles4souls.org for more information.
